Jane Hill

Community Service Leadership Inductee 2021

A champion for women's health and change-maker, Jane Hill is making a significant positive impact on people's lives both in Australia and internationally. She's determined to change the ovarian cancer story, like those who have changed the story of breast cancer.

Jane's career spans over 20 years of community service as a not-for-profit CEO and company director. She is currently CEO of Ovarian Cancer Australia, a National organisation, providing care and support for those affected by ovarian cancer; and advocating for improved services and research investment. She works to shape National health policy to increase cancer survival rates and the quality of life of cancer patients.

Jane's role as non-executive Director of the Ovarian Cancer World Coalition, sees her working across the globe towards a world where every woman with ovarian cancer has the best chance of survival, and the best quality of life – wherever she may live.

As Co-Chair of the Australian Patients' Advocacy Alliance, Jane represents 15 million patients Australia-wide where she advocates for a health system that puts the consumer at its heart; one that draws on the experience of Australians living with health conditions and embeds consumers in policy-making processes.

In her role as Member of the Federal Health Minister's Expert Advisory Committee on Preventative Health, Jane is helping to shape the 2020-2030 National Preventative Health Strategy.

As a poor prognosis cancer with a poor survival rate of just 46%, Jane's determined for a game-changer for ovarian cancer. She works tirelessly to improve information and support services; raise public awareness about cancer risk factors; advocate to encourage decision-makers to take action on initiatives to turn-around the disease; and enable much-needed high impact research. Jane's determined to make teal (international colour for ovarian cancer) the new pink!

Jane has made an extraordinary difference to the lives of women with ovarian cancer and their families and friends. She has been absolutely tireless in her advocacy for women with this terrible disease and has had a profound impact with the work she has done to support the women themselves; to improve access to treatment; to innovate and lead programs of work which will create lasting change; and to secure significant funding for life saving research.
